Meet the Expert: Tariq Khan, Senior Pharmacovigilance Consultant

What do you like best about working with clients?

Working with clients is energizing considering the fast-paced changing pharmacovigilance (PV) environment. At PV Alliance, I always seek a professional relationship with the client which comprises of some important elements below;

Establishing trust, the key to managing any client relationship is trust and to attain it. My aim is to meet the timelines and to produce quality work for our clients the first time, and every time. Following through on what we’ve promised to accomplish can go a long way towards establishing the foundation of a strong client relationship.

Communication, anticipating client needs, and collaboration are one of the easiest ways that we establish trust with our clients. Good communication means not only responding to emails promptly, but also keeping the client updated on the status of all Safety Data Exchange Agreements (SDEAs) that are in progress. This could be in the form of a weekly meetings on the SDEAs. Communication and collaboration also come into play at the beginning of the client relationship. I make sure I understand what my client’s expectations are so that I can establish a strategy and set goals, deadlines and plan of action accordingly.

Tell us about a day in the life of a Senior Consultant PV Alliance.

I work in a global PV partnership network established for my clients with their partners. Some of them are massive compared to others, and I keep an eye on ongoing/upcoming SDEAs for all clients simultaneously. Preparing drafts, reviewing, updating SDEAs, communicating with clients and their partners globally, finalizing SDEAs within specified timelines to remain compliant with the PV regulations, liaising within ProPharma for any client updates from operational perspective, and of course, remain on top of the global PV legislative updates are my core strengths.

Describe the biggest challenge facing our clients/industry today. How are we addressing this?

From the PV Alliance point of view, the rapid changing of global PV regulations, huge partnerships and product acquisitions by the clients and to remain compliant with the client’s and health authorities’ expectations are the biggest challenges we are facing currently. The PV Alliance team manages these challenges in real time by focusing on the client’s partnerships impacting PV and global PV regulations.

Tell us a little bit about yourself outside of work.

Being a father of 3 teenagers keeps me busy with their upbringing morally, educationally and their daily expectations. I am fun loving and easy going by nature, love animals, like to do gardening, interested in cars and a planespotter.

What’s one thing you’d like for potential clients to know about ProPharma?

Having several years of experience and especially during the past 3 years, the PV Alliance team at ProPharma has developed a remarkable set of skills, team set-up, and expertise in all types of PV partnerships, whether it is between a client and their business partner or a third-party partnership between ProPharma or a local PV vendor. The ProPharma PV Alliance team is a trusted partner , capable of providing spot-on and long-lasting solutions to ProPharma’s clients.
