Meet the Expert: Dr. Kiran Kandula

Our "Meet the Expert" series introduces you to our team of experts around the world. This "behind the curtain" view will help you get to know who we are on a professional and personal level, and highlight how our colleagues work together on our higher purpose to improve patient health and safety throughout the complete product lifecycle.

Meet Dr. Kiran Kandula, Senior Director, Pharmacovigilance

What do you do at ProPharma? How does your role support improving the health and safety of patients?

As a Senior Director Pharmacovigilance, I am responsible for delivery of Pharmacovigilance Services from India. Our agile and dedicated Pharmacovigilance professionals are currently supporting more than 50 clients with ICSR (case processing) activities for Post Marketing, Clinical Trial reports, Literature Screening, and Benefit-Risk Activities. I hold a bachelor’s degree in dental surgery, and I am certified Project Management professional (PMP). I have worked extensively in top Clinical Research Organizations (CRO), supported drug safety services for critical and innovative therapies with quality data and provided innovative pharmacovigilance solutions. Having worked with more than 30 Pharma and Biotech sponsors, my combined experience can help customers in offering flexible, customized, reliable and cost-effective pharmacovigilance solutions by improving the health and safety of patients.

What is one lesson you’ve learned in this industry that has most helped you?

"Customer Service" is an important aspect as we deal with day-to-day operational challenges while working in a stringent regulatory environment. Understanding the customer, tailoring our approach to their needs and delivering it on time with quality is key to the success of any service organization. Every customer has a unique approach and different needs to be catered to. I have managed teams of more than 500 FTE for large pharma clients, and I always inculcate Customer Service a core value in my daily operations.

Describe the biggest challenge facing our clients/industry today. How are we addressing this?

Constant changes in global regulatory landscape is one of the challenges our Sponsors are encountering. Additional cost pressure and resources required to adapt to new regulatory environments is always challenging. We at ProPharma help our customers to overcome these challenges by offering cost effective solutions to our customers.

Tell us a little bit about yourself outside of work.

I live in Hyderabad, capital of Telangana State in India along with my wife-Nalini and only son-Rithvik, and my mom-Laxmi. I am a huge fan of cricket and badminton. On weekends I accompany my son to cricket matches and net practice sessions. I grew up in a farming family, so whenever I get time, I spend time in my agriculture farms. I am a social person, and love to catch up with friends and colleagues during my free time.

What value does a client gain by working with ProPharma’s Pharmacovigilance experts?

ProPharma has Pharmacovigilance teams strategically located in all geographic regions to have round the clock PV processing coverage. ProPharma can offer strong regulatory expertise and audit & inspection group where former regulatory employees are part of it. We can offer strong quality management systems (QMS) support to small and medium-sized Pharma organizations and support in reducing the QMS maintenance burden for our clients. ProPharma also has robust safety systems integrated with AI solutions for better efficiency and can provide real time visibility to our sponsors.
