Meet the Expert: Gary Hyde

April 20, 2021

Our “Meet the Expert” series introduces you to our team of experts around the world. This “behind the curtain” view will help you get to know who we are on a professional and personal level, and highlight how our colleagues work together on our higher purpose to improve patient health and safety throughout the complete product lifecycle.

Meet the Expert: Gary Hyde, MS, LSSMBB, Principal Program Manager

What do you do at ProPharma Group?

I'm a process guy. When I engage a client, I always deliver through the lens of process. My sweet spot and my passion is what we call process optimization, which relies upon rigorous use of the scientific method to deliver quality risk-based, product-lifecycle stage appropriate, developmental and commercial processes. So, irrespective of the particular scope, clients receive solutions they can trust, build upon, and be confident will withstand regulatory scrutiny. The other aspect of what I do, that is just as critical to success, is “the people part of change”, or the engagement of the people who work in the process to transfer knowledge and build capability so that they are successful when I leave.

What’s your number one goal right now?

I’m fortunate enough to have worked as a consultant with ProPharma Group since 2012 and even more fortunate to have kept the same overarching goal of bringing the process optimization paradigm to as many folks in our industry as possible over the last nine years. Now I might add, with emphasis on those astounding, Cell and Gene Therapies (CGTs), via ProPharma Group’s CGT Center of Excellence.

What is one lesson you’ve learned in this industry that has most helped you?

There is never enough time or money to know everything and achieve zero risk, yet companies have to stay in compliance and in business in order to deliver life-changing solutions for patients. A deep understanding and rigorous deployment of quality risk management is the key to striking the right balance between protecting patient safety and staying in business so we can make a difference in their lives.

What do you like best about working with clients?

The range of people, processes, and situations that I encounter. I always learn, grow, and give back to the smart, dedicated, and generous people I meet at each client.

How do you support ProPharma Group’s mission and higher purpose of improving the health and safety of patients?

I champion the power of science. I apply process optimization methodology, a discipline founded upon the rigorous and systematic application of the scientific method, to every engagement, thereby delivering the robust, trustworthy solutions that are foundational to patient safety.

What value does a client gain by working with ProPharma Group’s Life Science Consulting experts?

Clients receive expertise and experience beyond their own paradigms. All organizations have a culture or way of doing and thinking about things that at times, holds it back from realizing the full potential of its people and its business. Of course, our consultants bring great technical expertise and project discipline with them to our clients, but they also create exceptional value by delivering it along with the “people part of change”, or the emotional intelligence if you will, that’s been accumulated over years of engagement with a richly diverse client base.
